EdgeR runs JavaScript, TypeScript, and WebAssembly workers on a machine you operate. A Rust control plane keeps versioned workers, process pools, routing, limits, deploys, and local observability. Warm JS and TS run in persistent Deno processes over Unix sockets. Wasm has its own backend.

What the runtime owns
- Versioned workers, with one default version and addressable version paths.
- Bounded pools, queues, request limits, lifecycle hooks, and a graceful drain.
- A cPanel for inventory, files, routing, health, logs, and metrics.
- A WebIDE with local drafts, an explicit deploy, and a sandboxed preview.
- Optional export of operational events over OTLP, plus Prometheus-compatible metrics. The default store is in memory, so a collector is not required to run.
The control plane accepts a root key or optional OIDC. Worker routes stay outside that key: each worker, or a gateway in front of it, authenticates its own traffic. Helm assets ship with the repo for a Kubernetes deploy.
The main branch is in active development. The first release under the
current license is planned as v0.2.0.
